Summer Chaat Puri Canapes

Eat out or eat in? I love, love eating out and enjoying food being cooked for me. Don’t get me wrong I love cooking but what I also love is taking inspiration and tasting new things.

Sometimes I find I cook so much I don’t actually end up fancying what I’ve cooked- for those of you that know what I mean, the best way is to go out and get inspired. Great excuse for a summer night out!

This week I visited a supper club in Neals Yard Pride Kitchen hosted by Mira Manek & Henrietta Inman, I wanted to take time out to meet new people and enjoy good food from one of my favourite foodies at the moment.

I’ve walked through this courtyard a number of times but never actually had time to sit down and enjoy the atmosphere. A truly beautiful and social place from the hanging summer lights to the coloured window framed buildings…

A take on Indian dishes and flavours that was refreshing and vibrant, what people are seeking out these days, healthy, tasteful, light and varied. A fantastic foodie evening. Supper clubs are the way forward, the ‘social dining’ experience. Take a look at some of the images from the night below. I’m a big fan of what we Indians call ‘Bhel’ so Mira’s take on it, ‘Summer Bhel’ was one of my favourites, with the juicy tomatoes and nutty textures covered in a zesty dressing it was perfect for the muggy weather that day. We finished the night of with something that surprised me the most, a shrikand (Indian sweetened thick creamy strained yoghurt) that was the lightest, airiest version I have ever tasted, summer in a mouthful and I still felt healthy after eating it! You may laugh but, it’s true….

I left inspired for sure…evenings off from cooking should defiantly be spent drinking good wine and/or eating good food.

Summer Chaat Puri

My take on a summer bhel, a tasty bite sized mouthful, fresh, zesty and served with the fresh green chutney it packed a punch. Full of crunch, sweet and savoury elements….maybe one for my upcoming supper club menus?

Supper clubs, the reason why I’m in this food journey and what I’m hoping to bring to you all. For me it’s a social pleasure being able to taste different flavours fused together alongside new faces, listening to people’s views, lifestories and most of all dining around a table with a feeling of warmth and comfort.

I want you all to experience that feeling and be inspired at one of my Supper Clubs so please do watch out as I’m about to get started very soon and I’m super excited about it!
