From My kitchen to you this AUGUST

August food Update

Happy August Everyone!

It’s been just over a month since I started my blog and it’s been crazy. From getting started, family events to sending my son off to Chile.

This month I’m going to be super busy planning my first Supper club so watch this space. I’m going to be cooking up a storm for Raksha Bandhan and if I get time…a lot more!

I’ve been enjoying drinking fruit smoothies and healthy mixes for post Gym workouts and it’s been a treat. Quickest and best way to get all your nutrients packed in one glass as you might well know! Best way to enjoy your summer fruits and veggies.

My favourite so far a turmeric latte, it’s all about the magic of Tumeric!

Tumeric & Ginger Latte

250ml cashew milk

1 teaspoon fresh turmeric grated or thinly sliced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated or thinly sliced

Pinch of sea salt

Pinch of ground cardoman

Pinch of cinnamon powder

1 teaspoon palm sugar

A sprinkle of pistachio & ground almond powder and a lemon wedge for garnish.

I personally make this in my protein shaker but you can use a small bowl or jug

Give the milk, turmeric, ginger, cardamom/cinnamon powder sugar and salt and good shake or whisk until the sugar had dissolved them let it sit for minimum of 5 minutes to let flavors infuse a little more with the milk. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a glass, pressing on the solids to extract juices then discard solids.

Add ice to the glass then stir and sprinkle with ground pistachio and almond and a lemon wedge

I just bought my first non metal pestle and mortar, its time to start grinding the flavours rather than blending them…fantastic for making fresh pesto, with texture and nuttiness. Also great for guacamole, grinding the base chilli mix together!

I look back at my trip to Venice where they had such fresh produce and I’m looking forward to indulging in fresh produce this month for my cooking. Fresh fruit and vegetables straight from British farmers markets and vegetable shops let’s see what’s on offer locally.

Summer for me is not only about food but also about true summer drinks. Aperol Spritz is a favourite and not forgetting a nice cold glass of white wine. I’ll fill you in on what you must try before summer is out….
